How to Enhance Security for Your Account

At XT, we take online security seriously. To protect your XT Account, our Security Team has prepared a list of recommendations on how you can enhance security for your account.

1. Set strong passwords and replace them regularly

An indispensable first step in protecting your XT account. Set up a STRONG password. The password needs to be complicated and unique, with a length of at least 8 digits. It should also contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

It is best not to include your name, email name, your birthday, mobile phone, etc. This information is easily accessible by others.

You can also enhance the security of the account by periodically changing the password, and the password for each replacement should be completely different. In addition, never disclose your password to others. XT staff will never ask you for your password.

You may refer to this article if you need to update your passwords.

2. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA)

When you create an XT account, you are required to secure your account with at least one two-factor authentication (2FA). XT supports three types of two-factor authentication (2FA): SMS 2FA, Email 2FA and Google Authenticator.
You are recommended to at least use Google Authenticator. For more information on how you can set up your Google Authenticator, you may refer to this article.

3. Stay vigilant about phishing

Phishing is a type of cyber attack where a malicious actor poses as a reputable entity or business in order to deceive people and collect their sensitive information, such as credit card details, usernames, passwords, etc. Since phishing involves psychological manipulation and relies on human failures (instead of hardware or software) it is considered a type of social engineering attack.

It is recommended to always visit XT through the saved bookmark to avoid manually entering the address each time you log in. If the XT official network has not been added to the bookmark, please add the following link immediately: https://www.xt.com. This simple measure can secure your account from many false fake websites.

4. Secure your device

We do not recommend installation of unnecessary software on your device, or software from untrusted developers. Remove applications or browser extensions that you do not need, and install only essential applications and devices that have access to sensitive information.

Whenever it is possible, consider using a dedicated device or partition for XT and trading. You can also keep your device secured by keeping it updated. If your browser, operating system and applications are out-of-date, your device will be more prone to security breaching issues.

5. Secure your internet connection

Always use a wired connection whenever it is possible. If you have to use wireless connection, especially a public network, consider routing your traffic using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

It is possible that someone else on the same network will start looking through the data sent over your device, causing security breach issues. A VPN encrypts your internet traffic, rerouting it through a server in its network. With this, nobody including the network owner can look through your data.
